This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter runs alligator hunts in Louisiana, and the Huntin' Fool team has hunted with them personally and had great success doing it. Alligator is the specialty. In this state the animals inhabit lakes, ponds, bayous, canals, and swamps, though most are concentrated in the coastal marshes of the south, and this outfitter works that country with the kind of familiarity that only comes from years on it. Hunts are arranged for single hunters, pairs, and groups, so the trip can be built around whoever is coming. Louisiana is loaded with gators, and having someone who knows how to hunt them is what separates a good trip from an unforgettable one.
HUNT DETAILS:
Two methods are used here, and hunters can pick either. The first is hook and line, which works something like a trap line. Chicken is used as bait and hung out over the water, hunters help set each hook and line, and then the boat makes rounds checking them for activity. When a gator is on, it is shot and pulled into the boat by hand, which is as much adrenaline as hunting produces anywhere. The second method is open water spot and stalk with a centerfire rifle, which is legal in Louisiana and comes down entirely to marksmanship. The target on a gator's head is between the eyes and roughly the size of a quarter, and a miss means the animal is gone. Hunting times shift depending on the body of water and the weather, so the guide sets the schedule around conditions. Both methods work for single hunters, pairs, or groups. Field dressing and trophy prep are included, and nothing goes to waste, with the hide, meat, and skull all utilized.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging depends on where the hunting takes place and can be a houseboat, a cabin, or a lakeside house. Whichever it is, hunters get good beds, air conditioning, wifi, and a comfortable place to settle in, which matters in Louisiana heat. Meals are a real part of the trip. The food is generous, no corners are cut on quantity, and hunters get a chance to work through some southern Louisiana specialty dishes they will not find at home. Nobody leaves the table hungry. Because the lodging shifts with the location, hunters should confirm where they will be staying before booking travel.

Tags are included in the hunts, and the outfitter can assist with your license upon arrival. Trophy care/assistance will be provided by the outfitter and field dressing and prep is also included. Nothing is wasted! The hide, meat and skull are utilized in all capacities whether you want them or not! The outfitter has great relationships with local taxidermists for any trophy needs.
