ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is an Alaska-based operation that provides boat rental services on the Yukon River, giving hunters the chance to experience an authentic, do-it-yourself moose hunt at a fraction of the cost of a fully guided trip. Based in Game Management Unit 18, the operation focuses on Alaska-Yukon bull moose in one of the state's most productive regions. It is built for adventurous, self-reliant hunters who are comfortable planning and executing their own hunt while relying on dependable equipment and transportation to reach remote country. Rather than guiding, this outfitter supplies the boats, motors, and gear that let independent hunters access water and habitat they could not otherwise reach on their own.

HUNT DETAILS:
This is a self-guided, do-it-yourself moose hunt built around a boat rental on the Yukon River in Game Management Unit 18, an area recognized for one of the highest moose densities in Alaska. The unit carries no antler size restrictions on bull moose, so hunters may take any legal bull they encounter. After receiving the boat at the Russian Mission airstrip, hunters travel the river system and establish their own camp, then hunt on their own schedule. The Yukon and its countless sloughs, side channels, and oxbows create outstanding moose habitat, and days are typically spent glassing riverbanks, calling from promising locations, and slowly navigating the waterways in search of rutting bulls. This is a boat rental only, not a guided hunt or licensed transporter service, so the provider cannot set camp, advise on where to hunt, or help locate, pursue, retrieve, or process game. Hunters handle every aspect of the hunt, from navigation and strategy to meat care. For patient, experienced hunters willing to work hard, the region consistently produces mature Alaska-Yukon bulls.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
This is a true wilderness, self-guided experience with no lodging, camp, or meal service provided. Hunters bring their own food, camping gear, hunting equipment, and personal supplies, and are responsible for setting and running their own camp along the river throughout the trip. The rental package includes an aluminum boat with outboard motor, a fuel tank, required operating equipment, and all safety gear needed for safe operation, along with pickup and drop-off at the Russian Mission airstrip. A limited selection of additional rental equipment may be available for each ten-day period, but any such rentals must be arranged with the provider in advance of arrival.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
The required Alaska hunting license and applicable harvest tags may be purchased online prior to your hunt or over the counter from an authorized Alaska license vendor upon arrival.
