HUNT DETAILS:
This is a Canada goose hunt on more than two hundred fifty thousand acres of private Montana ground, and the exclusivity of that access is what drives the results. The properties vary considerably in size, habitat, and how easily they can be reached, which means the hunting changes from one day to the next rather than repeating the same setup. Country ranges from open rolling grassland to fertile agricultural fields, and geese use both heavily. Hunters shoot from layout blinds, which keeps concealment tight where there is no natural cover. Guides handle the decoy spread and the calling. Because these lands see very little pressure, the birds have not been educated, and they work decoys and respond to calling the way waterfowl are supposed to. That is the real difference between hunting private ground and fighting for space on public water. Expect an active hunt with birds committing rather than flaring at the last second.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The lodge sits in southeastern Montana in the middle of their hunting country and is one of the finest in that part of the state. It is spacious enough to handle large parties, corporate groups, and team lodging without anyone feeling crowded. An on-site chef prepares homemade meals from scratch through the hunting season. The common area is large, with televisions, a wet bar, and conference amenities including classroom seating, a projector, and a screen. Outside there is a shooting range for both firearms and archery along with trap shooting, which gives hunters somewhere to warm up before a hunt or fill an afternoon.
