The Gen 2 Tripod uses a blend of materials to ensure the lightest, strongest, and most stable glassing platform possible while keeping the constraints of a hunter in mind. The trunnion, locks, and pivoting mechanism are machined from aircraft-grade 6061 T6 aluminum. The leg sections are made from a blend of carbon fiber and Innegra – the first of its kind.

“The new Gen 2 tripod from Outdoorsmans combines the quality of machined aluminum we have grown to love and trust with a rigid carbon fiber for an incredibly strong and durable tripod that will hold up to the heaviest setups. One of the biggest problems I have had with most carbon fiber tripods is in the joints and moveable parts. They often fail as they are made of plastic and pot metal and wear out fast because of dust and debris. With all the joints in this tripod being made from machined aluminum, this is one of the toughest carbon fiber tripods I have ever run.

The Gen 2 Pan Head is the perfect combination for a packable setup. This is a very capable head with easy pan and tilt adjustments. They have upgraded it to hold both an Outdoorsman adapter plate as well as an Arca Swiss plate to secure your binos or spotter so you will not have to go out and spend a bunch more money on adapter plates.

I do a lot of backpacking as well as hunting off mules. This setup has held up to throwing it in the panniers or riding around strapped to the back of the saddle with dust and dirt coating every inch without any issues. The heavy-duty leg clamps are adjustable, which makes
it nice to let some of the tension off if it does get some dirt and debris built up.

The only complaint I have about this tripod is that the locking mechanism for the legs sticks out and gets hung up from time to time when removing it from my pack. The Gen 2 Pan Head does not have fine adjustments for slow, controlled panning or vertical adjustment. The price is also a bit steep as it is more than double the price of most similar tripods. However, if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed, and with the durability of the tripod, you won’t have to replace it.” – Garth Jenson, Hunt Advisor
