“When KUIU announced they were coming out with a 6500 Waypoint Roller, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. The timing was perfect as my old Walmart special roller luggage was on its last leg and not going to make another trip through an airport. As we all know, airports are extremely tough on luggage, and if it’s hunting related, some airport employees can be extra tough on it. The 6500 Waypoint defiantly passed the toughness test. To simulate airport abuse, I put some towels plus 75 pounds of weights in the Waypoint and then proceeded to flop and roll it around the house. Then I threw it on the flatbed of my truck and drove several miles on a winding gravel road, letting it slide around. Other than a couple of small scuff marks, it came out looking like a champ with everything inside still in place.
The design of this bag is great for storing a lot of items while keeping them all organized. With two main compartments that are easily accessed and multiple smaller compartments/pockets and lashing system, keeping things organized is a breeze. The padded interior is also a great feature of this bag, especially if you are needing to pack sensitive items such as optics. I am very confident the Waypoint 6500 will protect them during travel.
The two hunts I used it on this fall, it exceeded my expectations. The five handles on the top and sides are extremely tough and make this bag very versatile to carry or strap down for almost any situation. The waterproof outer shell and water-resistant zippers are one of my top features on this bag as no one likes having wet gear. The large wheels give good clearance for going over bumps and through doorways. Overall, the bag gets a 9.5 out of 10 rating from me, with nothing negative to say about it. One friend who checked it out thought it was a little long for his liking at 32” in length. However, I could throw it on a pack mule and haul it into the backcountry with no problem at that length.
If you are in the market for a new roller bag or are just looking to upgrade, take a look at this KUIU 6500 Waypoint. It is the kind of bag that will take a lot of use and abuse and then be handed down to the next generation of hunter to use.” – Logan Hedges, Hunt Advisor
