Hunters know seconds can make the difference between a successful hunt and going home empty-handed. The new Talon HD 10K rangefinding binoculars from Vortex may be just the answer. For years, I have used traditional rangefinders to take a range and input that data into a ballistics app before taking a shot. Manually updating temperatures, elevation, and all the other environmental data that can greatly affect that shot on a once-in-a-lifetime animal is a thing of the past.
In the GeoBallistic app, pairing my phone with the Talon HDs was seamless. From there, I was able to update and customize rifle profiles and even fine tune my ballistic data to match the results I was seeing at the range. These binos can also be used on their own without the app. The menus are intuitive and easy to navigate.
On a recent axis deer hunt, we jumped a group of deer that ran across a drainage. They paused for a few seconds, allowing just enough time for me to give my hunting partner a range and hold call. He made it count! Had I been using my old method of entering data into an app, we would have gone home empty-handed. In the hunting world today, we all need to make the most of every opportunity we are afforded out in the field. I truly believe this is a product that could make the difference on your next hunt.
