This fall I had the opportunity to run KUIU’s new Mountain PRO Hooded jacket. This insulated, breathable jacket was designed for an array of conditions. It is lightweight, water and windproof and smartly designed for mobility during high output hunts.
One of the great features of this jacket is an interior mesh back vest that draws heat from the warmest parts of your body, efficiently redistributing heat throughout your core to provide even warmth within the jacket. The pit zip vents can be used if dumping excess heat is needed as well. The result was consistent temperature control and comfort.
Without using a mid layer, it didn’t run too hot or cold while in the 20-40 degree temperature range. This jacket is slightly oversized to allow the use of a fleece mid layer for comfort in sub 20 degree weather or longer periods of inactivity while glassing. The Mountain PRO jacket is a warm and versatile outer layer perfect for no matter what cold and wet conditions a hunt throws at you. It has quickly become my new go-to outer layer for late season mountain hunting.
