ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter has been guiding in Colorado and the Southwest since 1997, offering fully guided big game hunts in some of the most beautiful country in the state. They operate in the La Garita Wilderness of the Rio Grande National Forest under special permits that make them the only outfitter allowed to run both full-service guided camps and drop camps within their permitted area, giving their hunters access to the finest ground available. With Colorado's large elk herds, it remains one of the top destinations for a western hunt. This outfitter offers both over-the-counter hunts and hunts that require drawing a state tag, matching each hunter to the right camp and season for the best possible experience.

HUNT DETAILS:
This is a fully guided elk hunt in Colorado's Unit 68, in the La Garita Wilderness of the Rio Grande National Forest, this trip is a true horseback hunting experience. Hunters ride into the high country and hunt from backcountry camps on the edge of the black timber just below tree line, right in the middle of the action. This outfitter takes hunter deep into the backcountry, opening access to lightly pressured elk habitat that is difficult to reach on foot. With well-managed public-land herds and a genuine wilderness setting, hunters have a realistic opportunity at a mature bull.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in canvas wall-tent camps, with two hunters per tent. The backcountry high-country camps are more rugged spike camps below tree line, used to keep hunters close to the elk.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
This hunt is an easy to draw tag requiring 0-1 points. Colorado uses a preference-point system for its limited draw hunts, while many elk seasons are available over the counter without a draw. For draw hunts, hunters apply and build points over time; for over-the-counter hunts, tags can be purchased directly. A Hunter Safety card is required to hunt in Colorado.
