This Texas HIll Country hunting opportunity is a family-owned and operated hunting ranch. They consider everyone that is a member of the ranch team family, and most importantly, everyone that visits they hold in the same regard. Whether it’s your first time to schedule a hunt in Texas, or if you’re experienced in what this outfitter has to offer, this option is one to strongly consider. The terrain at the ranch is diverse, located on the Northeastern edge of the Texas Hill Country, and it's made up of canyons, hills, rivers, limestone bluffs, clear creeks, 20-mile views, and pastureland, which plays host to big whitetail deer along with breathtaking exotic animals from Africa and India. The ranch isn’t just for hunter seither, it’s also for those who simply want to get away from the lights and sounds of the city. The nature that surrounds the ranch provides adventures for those looking to do everything and for those looking to relax and do nothing at all.
Nestled within the ranch are 2 fully furnished homes that occupy the commanding, sweeping views of the Texas Hill Country. They have 2 fully furnished, welcoming homes. Lodging on-site includes the option of their gorgeous Main Street 3,000 square foot, 3-bedroom, two-bath main house, or their Ft. Hood Homestead, a 4-bedroom 3-bath ranch house. Whether you’d prefer sitting around any of the many gathering areas trading stories about the day’s hunt, or if you are simply looking to find solitude while watching everything a Texas sunset has to offer, their lodging options have plenty to choose from.
Bring your rifle and ammunition (or bow, muzzleloader, etc.), of course, along with camouflage in shades of brown, tan, and green. You’ll find 8X or 10X binoculars helpful, as well. Bring shooting sticks or a bipod if you like to use those, and a hunting/skinning knife if you want to participate in skinning and quartering your animals. Bring a quality cooler for transport of your meat and trophies home from the ranch. Don’t forget your camera!
If you’re spending the night in the lodge, it is not necessary to take linens, towels, or cooking and eating utensils and equipment. That is all supplied. Bring your toiletries, clothing, and food, and beverages.
When it comes to rifles, the caliber with which you are most comfortable and can make precise shots is what you should take. That said, a .243 is a good minimum for whitetail, hogs, and similarly sized exotics. A .25- 06, .270, .30-30, or .308 would be excellent for anything on the ranch. And, a .30-06 would not be too large by any means, and for the tough aoudad sheep, it might be just right. Shooting distances will generally be less than 200 yards. When it comes to hunting with a bow, please let us know that you want to hunt with a bow when you book your hunt so that we can plan accordingly with the outfitter.
You will need a license and they will check to make sure you have the appropriate license(s) before you are allowed to hunt. You can purchase them directly online as well at Texas Parks & Wildlife or by phone at 800-792-1112.
