HUNT DETAILS:
Quality mule deer throughout the West are increasingly difficult to draw and pursue, but this HFA Endorsed outfitter continues to provide well-managed opportunities in some of Colorado’s most respected country. Operating within the renowned Gunnison National Forest, the team focuses on producing encounters with mature, high-quality bucks year after year.
Hunters can expect an intensive, glassing-based experience. Days typically begin well before daylight, hiking or riding into vantage points to glass large expanses of sage, oak brush, and alpine timber. Patience is key, as guides carefully evaluate age and antler development before making a move. Once a target buck is identified, the team creates a strategic stalk using terrain features, wind direction, and cover to close the distance.
The outfitter limits the number of hunters in each unit to maintain low pressure and a personalized experience. The primary objective is locating mature bucks, often holding out for deer in the 170-inch class or better when a hunter’s tag allows.
Because terrain can vary from open basins to thick timber pockets, hunters are encouraged to practice shooting from field positions such as sticks or bipods. Preparation, physical conditioning, and patience all play a major role in success on these challenging and rewarding Colorado mule deer hunts.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
These hunts are conducted either from a comfortable lodge setting or as traditional pack-in wilderness camps, depending on the season. All meals are included with every hunt.
