HUNT DETAILS:
The hunting area is located in the heart of Alberta’s Bighorn range, near the historic coal mining town of Nordegg. This vast wilderness, including mountains, lakes, valleys, and marshes, offers perfect habitat for Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, moose, grizzly bears, elk, and more. With limited access by horseback or hiking, the area is one of the least pressured Bighorn sheep hunting regions in Alberta. Hunts are conducted from remote wall tent camps, offering an authentic high-mountain experience. Elevations range from 4,000 to 9,000 feet, with varying conditions from mild to early winter. Average rams score around 160", with some exceeding 170". This region boasts some of the highest populations of sheep in Alberta and provides opportunities to also see moose, goats, bears, and deer. Expect to spike out to other camps or rugged mountain tents to stay close to the action. Hunts are done on horseback and by backpacking and more information can be provided upon request.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
On these hunts, they primarily use wall tent camps, as permanent cabins aren’t allowed in wilderness areas. These tents are equipped with essentials like tables, chairs, cookware, stoves, cots, and outhouses to ensure a comfortable and successful hunt. While rustic, they offer a true high-mountain experience. Occasionally, if targeting a specific animal, a “spike camp” with smaller backpack tents may be used. The camp location will be chosen based on the guide’s expertise and terrain, ensuring the best opportunity for success. If you have special requests or health concerns, please discuss them before booking to ensure the best camp and hunt experience.

LICENSE PROCESS:
Licenses and tags for your hunt will be purchased in town the day you leave to trail in for your hunt. You will need to obtain an Alberta WIN number before arriving in Alberta. Whether you are flying or crossing the boarder by vehicle please ensure you have the correct firearms documentation. These details will be included in our planning your trip PDF. upon booking.
