This outfitter is a small family owned and operated business in Idaho. They carry multiple state licenses, permits, and private leases to be able to offer high quality, successful hunts. They offer hunts for Black Bear, Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer, Elk, and Mountain Lion. You can also harvest a wolf while on your hunt if the opportunity presents itself. Tag must be purchased prior to hunt. They also offer high mountain fishing trips as add-ons to their hunts. They raise and train their own dogs, they cook, and they personally guide 85% of their clients. This is what they do for a living.
Idaho has great Mountain Lion numbers with generous hunting seasons and opportunities. There isn’t much more that will get your heart pumping than being within 25 feet of the mountain’s deadliest predator.
This outfitter offers 7 day lion hunts, in central Idaho They can’t guarantee a giant tom, but the longer you hunt with them, the greater your odds are at getting a chance at one. He has all the bottoms and the best access so they have no competition. You will have at least two guides hunting separate ground with their own dogs and equipment each day.
They use satellite devices to stay in good contact and when a cougar is located they converge to make it successful. They range between 75% and 100% opportunity rate, depending on the year. Most years they are at or near 100%. They hunt dirt and snow, and prefer the dirt, which their dogs are more than capable of tracking in. When they have dirt conditions they spend their time free casting dogs and walking areas that they know cats like to frequent. If you’re not much of a walker, they gladly do the walking and have you wait nearby for them until they have one jumped. On dirt, they can’t really control what the dogs run, big or small, they just run cat scent. When they have snow, a lot of time is spent driving roads on machines and looking for tracks. Lots of sitting and waiting on a cougar hunt, that’s why the add-ons are nice. On the snow, they can see a track and tell you approximately how big it is before they turn the dogs loose. They prefer dirt and the outfitter likes to schedule hunts but they also do some on-call hunts as well if your schedule is flexible to leave based around weather conditions.
