DESCRIPTION:

This incredible adventure takes place in arguably one of the most beautiful places to hunt, the Mackenzie basin on the south island of New Zealand. People travel from all around the world to visit this beautiful region. Now imagine waterfowl hunting in this paradise. Pair that with incredibly beautiful species of fowl that can only be legally hunted in New Zealand like the black swan, paradise shelduck and Australasian shoveler, and you have probably your number one bucket list location in the world for true waterfowl hunters. Besides the aforementioned birds, clients will also target the pacific black duck, the mallard duck and big canada geese. Another rare species clients can check off their trophy list is the pukeko or australasian swamphen, very similar to a coot, but double the size, bright blue with a bright red beak. An incredibly beautiful trophy bird. Hunting scenarios include mountain lakes, glacial lakes and rivers. Mount Cook, New Zealand's largest mountain, towers over the entire basin at over 3000 meters high. This outfitter is the only 100% dedicated waterfowl outfitter in New Zealand. Their focus is completely on bird hunting and is the most knowledgable outfitters in this region. This is truly one of our best waterfowl hunting adventures we have.

LODGING
Clients have two options for lodging. For more solitude in an incredibly breathtaking country environment, clients can stay at a high county ranch house at the edge of Lake Pukaki, one of the biggest lakes in New Zealand The lake is glacial fed from the Tasman glacier and Mount Cook which holds snow year round and is New Zealand’s biggest tourist attraction. The ranch house is a 6 bedroom 3 bath with WiFi. The lodge is a 30 minute drive to the nearest township Tekapo.

For a touristy urban feel, the second option for accommodations is in the tourist town of Tekapo. Clients will stay a five star resort at the bottom of lake Tekapo, another glacial fed lake with stunning back drops. The resort includes a restaurant, bar and WiFi.

MEALS
All meals are provided by the outfitter. If you choose to stay at the ranch house you will get a great home cooked meal from a cook. If you choose to stay at the resort, all meals will be at the resort restaurant or other close by restaurants in the area.

GETTING THERE
Clients will fly into Christchurch International Airport where they will rent a car and either drive 2 half hours to the hotel in Tekapo or 3 hours to the ranch house on lake Pukaki.
