The hunt starts with your arrival at the ranch house. You'll meet your guide(s), review the hunt plan, and go over any necessary paperwork, including tags and permits. You'll have time to ensure your gear is ready and your rifle is properly sighted in for last-minute adjustments. Your guide will provide a briefing on the property, including hunting areas and stands, expected wildlife activity, and safety protocols.
Each day the day starts early, usually before dawn. A light breakfast or coffee may be offered before heading out. You’ll travel with your guide by ATV, truck, or on foot to the hunting location, such as a ground blind or elevated stand. The morning hunt focuses on catching deer during their active feeding and movement periods. This is an excellent time for spotting mature bucks.
Around late morning, you’ll head back to the ranch house to rest, enjoy a hearty lunch, and review the morning's activity. Hunters often take a break during the heat of the day, as deer activity slows. You can use this time to nap, review photos, or prepare gear for the evening hunt. You’ll head back out in the late afternoon, often to a different location based on your guide’s strategy and scouting. As the sun sets, deer become active again, making this another key opportunity to spot and harvest a buck. After sunset, you’ll return to camp to share stories, review the day’s success, and enjoy a warm dinner.
After you successfully harvest, your guide will assist with field dressing, tagging, and transporting the animal. The outfitter will provide basic processing, such as skinning and quartering, and full processing (meat cuts, taxidermy prep) can be done at a nearby facility.
After your hunt is complete, you’ll depart with your processed game, memories of the experience, and potentially plans for your next trip. If you choose to leave your trophy and/or meat with the outfitter, the local taxidermist and/or meat processor will coordinate services and shipping with you.
Don’t miss your chance to create lifelong memories and harvest your dream buck!
