Hunt free-range Scimitar Horned Oryx in West Texas with an over-the-counter tag! They offer many different hunts in Texas and New Mexico, with the majority of all big game hunting conducted on private ranches, leased for a specific hunt or species. Texas offers some great opportunities and this specific hunt is on private, low-fence land consisting of 73,000 acres or prime habitat for the Scimitar Horned Oryx to live and flourish.
The Scimitar Horned Oryx in this region of Texas were introduced into the wild approximately 20 years ago. The herd today has grown to over 250 strong, and are managed for trophy hunting, harvesting controlled numbers each year. Hunters can expect spot and stalk style hunting, and will see an estimated 50 Oryx a day, with the possibility of more. The terrain is part of the Chihuahuan Desert and is primarily high desert in terms of vegetation and climate. It's very similar to Texas Antelope country, consisting of rolling hills and plains, combined with a landscape of mesas and relatively flat topography. These are 3-day hunts, and hunter success to date has been 100%! All hunts have been completed in 2 days or less to date.
