HUNT DETAILS:
This Rio Grande Turkey hunting experience in the heart of North Central Texas — offering exceptional bird numbers, a relaxed and enjoyable hunting environment, and the flexibility to tailor each hunt to the client’s preferred style. A blend of tradition, land stewardship, and consistently high turkey populations makes this hunt one of the region’s most dependable spring opportunities. With healthy flocks, ideal roosting habitat, and carefully managed hunting pressure, this outfitter provides an excellent chance at multiple mature longbeards. While no hunt can promise success, hunters enjoy an extremely high opportunity rate and an authentic Texas turkey adventure that draws repeat clients year after year.
The outfitter operates exclusively on more than 6,000 acres of private land, consisting of creek bottoms, oak ridges, open pastures, and brushy transitions where Rio Grandes thrive. Strategically placed ground blinds, natural brush setups, and run-and-gun terrain give hunters a variety of productive options depending on calling preference and the birds’ daily movement. By keeping hunter numbers low and focusing on sustainable harvest, this operation maintains a low-pressure environment that continually produces quality opportunities and responsive gobblers. Standard hunts span three full days with three nights of lodging, though additional days can be added when desired. Hunters typically pursue two mature gobblers, with opportunities at jakes and predators available depending on the season and outfitter guidelines. Hunts take place during the core of the Texas spring season from late March through early May, perfectly timed for peak gobbling and breeding activity.
Each morning begins well before daylight, heading toward roosted birds with the goal of striking early gobbles at fly-down. Midday action can be productive as well, and hunters often return for an evening sit near feeding zones, strut areas, or late-day travel corridors. Guests may self-navigate after an initial tour of the property, or they can rely fully on the outfitter for calling, setup assistance, and locating roost trees. Daily encounters are common, with hunters often hearing dozens of gobbles at dawn and seeing groups of hens, jakes, and mature toms throughout the day. Additional wildlife such as whitetail deer, hogs, coyotes, and quail are frequently seen, adding to the atmosphere of a classic Texas spring hunt.
This package includes two mature Rio Grande gobblers, with options for additional birds when available and approved by the outfitter. Predators and hogs may also be taken on a case-by-case basis, creating even more action for those interested. Trail camera intel, scouting reports, and roosting sessions the night prior help determine where the best opportunities will be each morning.
Most hunters choose to breast out or quarter their turkeys and pack them in coolers for the trip home. Several nearby processors can handle full-bird preparation for fans, mounts, or specialty meat products. Clients are responsible for caring for and transporting their birds, though the outfitter is happy to recommend trusted taxidermists experienced with full strut mounts, fans, and European mounts.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
