ABOUT OUTFITTER:
The Huntin' Fool team has had the privilege of hunting with this exceptional outfitter multiple times, and we can confidently say they are among the elite in British Columbia when it comes to pursuing trophy Canada Caribou. This outfitter has combined two of British Columbia’s premier guide territories to offer an opportunity that's unmatched with over 50 years in operation. With the hunting area being on both sides of a major world renowned river, it gives them pristine wilderness habitat that holds excellent game populations with both Pacific and Arctic watersheds that supports world class hunting and fishing. This family owned operation is actively involved in the family business and they all work in the organization in some capacity year round.
Despite a decline in Caribou populations across North America, The outfitter’s area remains a beacon of hope, housing the largest mountain caribou population in British Columbia. Through extensive collaboration with governments and First Nations, efforts to restore these majestic creatures are showing remarkable success. Originally designated as an area in 1975 to protect the thriving caribou herds, this area has remained a sanctuary for this incredible species, offering a rare and thrilling opportunity for hunters.
HUNT DETAILS:
This hunt is a true wilderness hunting adventure! The multiple river systems provide boat travel and the wide range of lakes scattered throughout the area are accessed via floatplane. Each camp also has a string of calm, sure-footed horses. They are well-disciplined mountain animals providing an excellent means of transportation to access the nearby plateaus and mountain ranges.
The area is home to two primary caribou herds, each concentrated around the area. Over the years, bulls harvested from these herds have shattered records, with many still standing among the largest ever documented. Each year, 10-20% of harvested bulls score 390 to over 400 B&C points, while the average bull boasts an impressive 375. What truly sets this outfitter apart, however, is the superior quality of the bulls that roam these vast landscapes.
During early hunts, these prime caribou can be found near the park’s pristine lakes, which they access by plane. It's not uncommon to encounter massive bulls still in velvet, their antlers an awe-inspiring sight—and if the velvet can be preserved, it makes for an extraordinary mount. For the majority of hunts, they journey into the heart of caribou territory on horseback, riding up to the sprawling plateaus where the bulls are rutting. Whether staying in rustic cabins or tent camps, hunters are immersed in the untamed beauty of the area, where every hunt is a thrilling adventure in one of the most stunning and wild regions of British Columbia.
Clients also have the option of harvesting multiple species upon coordinating with HFA and/or the outfitter prior to the hunt. The HFA team has hunted with this outfitter several times and stands behind them as an HFA Endorsed Outfitter.
