HUNT DETAILS:
A DIY muskox hunt on Nunivak Island is a true Arctic adventure for the self-reliant hunter. After a boat or plane ride to the island, you’ll navigate vast tundra, frozen lakes, and rugged coastline in search of these ancient beasts. Using ATVs or snow machines (depending on season), hunters glass for bachelor bulls in remote pockets of the island. With limited tags and minimal pressure, trophy bulls with impressive bosses are a real possibility. Accommodations are basic, weather is harsh, and logistics require serious planning—but for those ready to take on the challenge, it’s an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
During the fall hunt, the hunters will be 100% responsible for their own accommodations. Winter hunters can choose to stay in town or out in the field. All meals are the hunters responsibility. Bring it with you, because there are no grocery stores.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Non-residents must draw a permit to hunt Muskox anywhere in the state of Alaska and are very difficult to draw. Huntin' Fool's License Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
