ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is based in northeastern Oregon, in the middle of prime big game country, and has been working with Huntin' Fool since the late 1990s. That is a long relationship and it says something. The team specializes in five species, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, mule deer, elk, and antelope, which is an unusually strong lineup for one operation and speaks to how well they know their units. These are hardcore hunters running full-service guided hunts, and preparation is where they put their effort. The reputation they have built rests on delivering results across all five species rather than being strong in one and average in the rest.

HUNT DETAILS:
This is a bighorn sheep hunt in northeastern Oregon, and the guides running it take mature rams seriously. Both archery and rifle hunters are accommodated. Oregon has built a reputation for its bighorn populations, and the country is a large part of why. Steep canyons, broken peaks, and high desert plateaus make up the ground, which is ideal sheep habitat and also some of the hardest terrain to hunt in the West. A hunt here asks a great deal physically, and hunters should train for it well ahead of time. Scouting is what this operation credits for its results, and rams are located and watched long before a hunter arrives so the hunt starts with a plan rather than a search. A pack string of horses stays ready, which matters when a ram turns up somewhere no vehicle will ever reach. On a hunt of this magnitude, that level of preparation counts for everything.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters are based in well-equipped wall tent camps in eastern Oregon, positioned to keep travel time short and hunting time long. On a sheep hunt that matters more than usual, since every hour spent driving is an hour not spent glassing. The camps are set up for both comfort and function, with a warm, dry place to sleep and recover at the end of a hard day. Hearty home-cooked meals are prepared daily, which is not a small thing when hunters are burning through calories climbing. It is a traditional western camp rather than a lodge, and that suits the character of this hunt.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Most big game tags in Oregon are issued through a limited-entry draw system. Hunters must apply in the spring, there are no bonus points in Oregon for bighorn sheep. Navigating the tag application process can be complex, but the Huntin’ Fool License Application Service can assist in securing the best possible tags. By planning ahead and exploring all available options, hunters can increase their chances of drawing a tag for an unforgettable Oregon hunting experience with this outfitter.
