ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter specializes in whitetail hunting in Kansas and also runs turkey, waterfowl, quail, and coyote hunts. The operation holds long-term leases on more than twenty-one thousand acres of private ground in Chautauqua and Elk counties. The terrain is a mix of mature timber, cedars, river bottoms, oak flats, brushy hedgerows, agricultural fields, and crop grasses, which is about as complete a habitat picture as Kansas offers. The land is managed deliberately, with an emphasis on growing and holding some of the largest free-ranging, fair-chase whitetails in the country. Conservation and ethical practice sit behind that work rather than being tacked on afterward, and hunters at every level are guided by people who know these leases well.
HUNT DETAILS:
Whitetail hunts here are fully guided, and the work behind them runs all year. Scouting and observation continue in every month, not just when hunters are in camp, so guides know which bucks are using which properties and can position a hunter accordingly. A managed nutrition program of minerals and feed supports antler growth through the periods that matter most and continues through the hunt itself. Hunters are dropped off at their stands and picked up afterward, which keeps disturbance low and means nobody is stumbling around in the dark finding their way in. Muzzleloader, archery, and rifle hunters are all accommodated. Deer quality is the headline. Bucks taken here average around one hundred fifty inches, and that average is protected by a strict standard on young deer, which carries a penalty if one is shot. Hunters should be prepared to pass immature bucks and let the management do its work.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The main lodge is a spacious home that sleeps up to twelve. The main floor has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and an open kitchen, living, and dining area, plus a great room with a big-screen satellite TV and a poker table for the evenings. Downstairs there are three more bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a second open living area, and a two-car garage for gear storage. Linens and towels are provided, so hunters only bring personal items. A washer and dryer are on site and laundry service is offered. The lodge is clean on arrival, and home-cooked meals are served daily throughout the stay.
