HUNT DETAILS:
This elk hunt takes place on an exclusive thirteen thousand acre private ranch in southern Utah, ranging from seventy-two hundred to nine thousand feet in elevation. The country is varied without being punishing, and that is a deliberate part of how the ranch is set up. Roads reach both the top and the bottom of each canyon, so hunters are not forced into a long climb to get where they need to be, and the property works for hunters of any age. Pine and quaking aspen cover much of the ground, and water sources scattered through it make for productive mid-morning and late afternoon sits when elk come in to drink. The herd is healthy, and bulls in the three hundred twenty to three hundred fifty class and better are what hunters are after. Any weapon is welcome. Hunters can hunt archery, rifle, or move between the two, which gives real flexibility in how a bull gets taken.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in a lakefront house with six bedrooms and two decks, which is a step above what most elk hunts offer. There is room for a full group without anyone crowded, and the decks make a natural place to gather and go over the day once everyone is back. A dedicated cook handles all of the meals and keeps the house running, so hunters are not cooking, cleaning, or hauling groceries at any point during the week. Coming back to a hot meal and a real bed after a day on the mountain is a large part of what makes this hunt work for groups of friends.
