ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-endorsed outfitter has been a trusted name in the industry for over 15 years, offering some of the finest hunting experiences in British Columbia and across North America. Their vast concession spans approximately 3,300 square miles and is regarded as one of Canada’s premier hunting destinations.
Nestled in the northwest corner of British Columbia, about 80 miles from Alaska and 40 miles from the Yukon, this wilderness is among the most pristine and game-rich environments in the world. With minimal resident hunting pressure across 95% of the area and no riverboat access, the landscape remains remote, untouched, and truly wild. All logistics, from supplies to personnel, must be managed via floatplane or long horse pack trains during the off-season and hunts (when applicable). The region boasts approximately 70 lakes—many teeming with fish—one river with floatplane access, and well-established camps throughout. It is home to dark Stone Sheep, massive Moose, some of the healthiest Mountain Caribou herds, and impressive Mountain Goats, along with predators such as Grizzly and Black Bears, Wolves, and Wolverines.
The diverse terrain features rugged mountain peaks, timbered valleys, vast grassland plateaus, and willow-lined draws, creating ideal habitats for these species to thrive. This is a place where hunters can experience a landscape nearly unchanged for centuries, accessible only by horse, foot, or boat—a truly authentic and untamed hunting adventure.
HUNT DETAILS:
This is a true backcountry horseback hunt in one of British Columbia’s best areas for Mountain Caribou. The region boasts some of the healthiest herds in the province, with the largest known for great bulls with most scoring 350-380 inches. Hunting here is straightforward—guides will take you to areas where Caribou are known to frequent, using high vantage points to glass or riding through the terrain to encounter them. You’ll be targeting mature bulls, so passing on smaller or younger ones is expected. Most hunts are conducted from a base camp, though guides may occasionally opt to spike out for extended time in prime locations.
In August, Caribou are scattered at higher elevations along ridges, while by mid-to-late September, they group up and move to lower plateaus. Legal bulls must have six top points or five top points with one rear point. The season opens in mid-August, and shifting locations mid-hunt is common.
This region is also renowned for exceptional Canadian Moose, and combo hunts are available.
