ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is based in northeastern Oregon, in the middle of prime big game country, and has been working with Huntin' Fool since the late 1990s. That is a long relationship and it says something. The team specializes in five species, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, mule deer, elk, and antelope, which is an unusually strong lineup for one operation and speaks to how well they know their units. These are hardcore hunters running full-service guided hunts, and preparation is where they put their effort. The reputation they have built rests on delivering results across all five species rather than being strong in one and average in the rest.

HUNT DETAILS:
These guides are serious about mature bucks, and hunters can pursue them with archery equipment or a rifle. Oregon has been gaining recognition as a mule deer state, and for good reason. The terrain here is varied, running from thick forest and broken mountains into open sagebrush and rolling foothills, and that mix creates the kind of habitat mule deer thrive in. It also means the hunting changes depending on where a hunter ends up, which keeps a week interesting. Scouting is what this operation credits for its success, and the staff puts in the work before hunters arrive rather than figuring it out on day one. A pack string of horses is kept ready, so when a buck turns up somewhere that cannot be reached from a road, getting in there is a matter of saddling up rather than reworking the plan. Hunters should arrive prepared to hunt hard and take advantage of the setup.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in well-equipped wall tent camps in eastern Oregon, positioned deliberately to cut down travel time and keep hunters close to the country being hunted. That placement matters, since time not spent driving is time spent hunting. The camps are set up for comfort as well as function, giving hunters a warm, dry base to come back to after a long day. Hearty home-cooked meals are prepared daily, which keeps everyone fueled through the kind of days this hunting demands. It is a traditional western camp rather than a lodge, and for most hunters that is the point of coming out here in the first place.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Most big game tags in Oregon are issued through a limited-entry draw system. Hunters must apply in the spring and accumulate preference points to increase their chances of drawing a tag for premium units. Navigating the tag application process can be complex, but the Huntin’ Fool License Application Service can assist in securing the best possible tags. By planning ahead and exploring all available options, hunters can increase their chances of drawing a tag for an unforgettable Oregon hunting experience with this Endorsed Outfitter.
