Garth Carter with his 407 Gross Utah Bull

(Excerpt from the Jan 2007 issue of The Huntin' Fool)

This issue of The Huntin’ Fool marks the beginning of our 12th year in business. From the entire staff here at Carter’s Hunter Services, thank you for supporting us all of these years.
For many years our membership renewal has been above 90%, plus each year new members join our service. This is a testimony that we are doing something right. Each year we analyze what services we are providing and modify our program to better serve you with added programs and personnel. This year we have added Adam Bronson, a well known western wildlife biologist and avid big game hunter. You now have access to three professional hunting consultants each time you call.
As consultants, Jason, Adam, and I hunt big game in several states and providences annually and talk to literally hundreds of hunters each month about where they went and how they did. This provides us with a wealth of information to transfer to you. We are the only company in the world that has hunting consultants on staff to help you whether you are going guided or unguided, whether your tag is a draw tag, a landowner tag, an outfitter tag, or an over-the-counter tag.
Each year, as consultants, we each select several big game units to hunt personally, which helps us with first hand knowledge. This year alone on self guided hunts on public land, we were involved in taking an elk that scored over 400 on the Southwest Desert unit in Utah, a typical Mule deer that scored over 200 in unit 44 of Colorado, 200+ bucks taken in units 231 and 221-223 of Nevada, a 194 net typical buck on the Henry Mountains in Utah, and a Desert sheep that was among the best taken in Utah on the Escalante desert. Last year in addition to sheep hunting, we were involved in killing a 395 bull in unit 231 in Nevada and a 380 bull in unit 23N of Arizona. We also were involved in taking five Mule deer bucks that scored from 203 to 235, averaging 218. The 235 buck was killed in Arizona on 13B and a 224 buck was harvested in Colorado unit 54 on the 2nd season in October. The bigger two of the remaining three bucks were taken in unit 241-245 in Nevada. All of these 2005 and 2006 trophies were harvested on public land. This type of aggressive hunting helps us formulate our top picks in The Huntin’ Fool and aids us in helping you on a personal level.
I do not mean to sound like I am bragging about our staff’s hunting ability—I am not. We hunt many of the best units in the West every year, which provides us with opportunities at trophy animals. Learning and hunting what’s new and hot helps us better serve you. It’s important that we stay on top of western big game hunting and transfer that information to you. After all, most of you are just like us, when you hunt, you want a chance at a trophy animal.
Thanks for being part of our team and we hope to serve you well in 2007. Remember…apply, apply, apply!
